Teeth whitening: six of your questions answered

Updated: Aug 7

Professional teeth whitening is one of the most cost-effective and efficient ways to transform your smile. It is straightforward, non-invasive, and the finished product makes for a brighter, healthier-looking, more attractive smile.

You will inevitably notice staining on your teeth over time and as you age, and this can worsen if you are a keen coffee or tea drinker, or are partial to strong-hued foods like berries and curries.

At Kamran Rasul Cosmetic and Aesthetic Dentistry, Liverpool, we offer home whitening kits to elevate the shade of your teeth.

Like any cosmetic dental treatment, you might want to know the facts before going ahead. To help, we have compiled answers to six of our patients’ most frequently asked questions:

What do dentists use to whiten teeth?

It depends on the dentist! We always want to ensure we’re offering you the best possible results, which is why we have carefully selected our whitening treatment from the wide range of options available.

360 Whitening is a safe, effective, and advanced whitening system which can only be used by registered dental professionals, like those at Kamran Rasul Cosmetic and Aesthetic Dentistry. Not visiting a trained expert is extremely risky and could cause long-term damage to your teeth.

We believe that teeth whitening should fit around your lifestyle, giving you as much flexibility as possible. Our home whitening treatments are low maintenance and convenient - you will only need to visit us to have your bespoke trays made, and then again to check your results!

360 Whitening gel includes trolamine in its formula. This means it can gently whiten your teeth without causing sensitivity. Not only this, but the comfortable whitening trays reduce the likelihood of the gel reaching your gums.

How does it work?

Teeth whitening has never been easier! Our kits allow you to whiten your teeth in the comfort of your own home over the course of just a few weeks.

First, we'll custom-make your whitening trays using a 3D scan of your teeth. Each night for a number of weeks you'll add your teeth whitening gel to the trays for sleeping in. After just a couple of weeks, your teeth could be up to 16 shades brighter!

How long does teeth whitening last?

Teeth whitening results can last for around three years, although the lifespan of your treatment depends on your oral health and dietary habits.

If you are partial to tea and coffee, or dark-hued foods like curry and tomato-based sauces, then stains are likely to re-form on your teeth more quickly. Filling your trays with gel and wearing them one night a week every other month can help prolong results.

How much does it cost?

At Kamran Rasul Cosmetic and Aesthetic Dentistry in Liverpool, teeth whitening only costs £299! And we offer top-up whitening gel syringes for £30, which will leave your teeth sparkling for years to come.

What are the benefits?

Our patients are always over the moon with their results! Whitening makes your teeth look brighter and healthier, giving you the confidence to smile proudly again.

Over-the-counter whitening toothpaste and strips do not have the same effect as professional whitening treatments. Whether you choose home whitening, or whitening in our Liverpool clinic, 360 Whitening guarantees you a brighter, whiter smile like no other.

Is teeth whitening safe?

Teeth whitening is completely safe if the treatment is carried out by trained dental professionals.

We advise that you steer clear of over-the-counter whitening kits – cosmetic treatments should always be overseen by a dental professional. These kits may be ineffective or even damaging to your teeth.

Both home and in-surgery whitening may cause some sensitivity at first, which can last until your treatment is complete.
